Microsoft Exec: Clueless

Microsoft honcho Peter Moore, in an interview said the following:

Nobody is concerned anymore about backwards compatibility. We under promised and over delivered on that. It’s a very complicated thing… very complex work. I’m just stunned that we have hundreds of games that are backwards compatible.

He was talking about the fact that the XBox 360 is mostly backward-compatible with the original XBox as far as games go, and how that isn’t really an important feature to gamers.

I can’t even imagine the man being more out of touch. When the XBox 360 was coming down the pipeline, the lack of backward-compatibility that was rumored set off a storm o fanger and controversy with current XBox owners. The idea that any employee at Microsoft who has anything to do with the XBox could even think that nobody was concerned with backward compatibility proves that he is grossly out of touch with what his customers want.
